Twelve Stars

Log Cabin -- Pineapple

"I thought that the piece sizes on the pattern were too big, so I made this quilt with much smaller pieces." The quilt has a corded binding.

Log Cabin -- Variation

There are squares, stars, tumbling blocks, broken stars, and diamonds; three colors of light blue, 3 colors of dark blue and maroon. "I cut and matched and sewed for such a long time that when I got most of the blocks and diamonds together, I put it in a box for several years. When I took it out of the box, I had forgotten how it was to go together. What a puzzle! But I'm happy with how it turned out."

Many Stars

There are just as many pieces in each of the 12 stars in this quilt as there are in the large star quilts with only one star. The binding is done with cording. I made a snowflake pattern to quilt in the squares.

Broken Star

I made about 24 stars, but lacked one to complete a composition. I took all the stars apart and put them together this way (I didn't know at the time that there was a broken star pattern). All of the pieces are Hawaiian pieces from Mrs. Clara Kelley. I scalloped the edges; the white material came from Kemmerer. The pattern in the squares is what Grandma Pope used in her Double Wedding Ring quilts.
