This is a friendship quilt that Marie encouraged her Gleaner Girls in Mutual to make. When she looked at the back and saw that instead of binding she had turned the back over the front, Marie said, "Oh, surely, I didn't!!"
The gingham on the back gives it a dainty look. Grandma Pope made many Double Wedding Ring quilts -- all small. All the pieces were cut with scissors. Notice the scalloped edges. "I have 3 more like this. They are all made from scrap material. I used what we had".
This and the next Log Cabin quilt were made much the same but put together differently. Both are scrap quilts. (Scraps are pieces of new material left over from someone's sewing). "I like red centers".
